Variety is the spice of life. And the OMSI 2 Add-On- Rheinhausen is certainly jam-packed with variety. As well as the challenges of driving a bus in urban traffic, virtual bus drivers also have tempting opportunities to manoeuvre a large vehicle safely through traffic on interurban routes.

Rheinhausen captivates visitors with its densely built-up urban area with fascinating architecture and with the rural charm of its surroundings. Beyond the city limits, more passengers are waiting to be chauffeured to their destinations safely and on time.

Rheinhausen is not modelled on any real city, but it reflects a pattern of urban development with links to a rural hinterland which is common in Germany.
The OMSI 2 Add-On- Rheinhausen offers 10 completely driveable bus lines serving the city and the surrounding countryside. Two regional lines carry additional passengers into the inner city and back out to the edge of town.

Driving routes, junctions and stops are sometimes shared with the town’s light rail service; drivers must be especially careful here.
Over 500 new 3D objects have been created for Rheinhausen. They include new residential dwelling houses, a theatre, the town’s train station, supermarkets, and commercial premises as well as new bus stop shelters, signs, rubbish bins, post boxes, parking machines and more. New, high-resolution textures have been used for streets and pavements.

Rural areas are also shown in rich detail!

Numerous 3D objects such as a football pitch, a playground and a footbridge for hikers inject even more lifelike realism into this little world.
More than 110 bus stops and 200 new junctions are located along approximately 50 kilometres of driving routes. The AI vehicles travel on realistic city streets, country roads, dual carriageways and motorways.

The buses for both urban and interurban routes are supplied by a bus transport operator with a large and fully driveable central depot.
The game includes a suitable interurban bus which was created in rich detail specifically for this add-on and given its own special livery.
Time-controlled events such as bins that are put out for collection in the streets on certain days and roadworks that necessitate diversions at times ensure the traffic flow is realistic. But random events such as illegal parking and weather (with dynamic snow) also crop up and make the lives of bus drivers harder.
Professionally recorded bus stop announcements and original sounds for the supplied bus ensure a realistic audio backdrop.

The schedules have been drafted following real norms. The realistic frequency intervals between buses reflect bus scheduling in many German cities.
This regular-interval scheduling ensures a steady flow of passengers.

great DLC but I seem to get stuck on the train tracks trying to get over them. is there a fix?. This map is fantastic I havn't had time to drive all the lines yet! Perfect for someone who is looking for lots of lines and a big city.. After driving routes 15 and 25 so far i have to say that this dlc is brilliant. although the bus looks familiar it has been tweaked to sound better, and has an easy to use ibis.
a thumbs up from me based on my gameplay so far.. My feelings were mixed regarding this DLC at the first sight. I had trouble playing with it, there were many glitches and the game crashed many times. Picking up the game after 1 or 2 weeks the glitches were gone and the crashes stopped happening and I had no trouble playing this since then.

I have to be amazed by the detail and quality Halycon Media delivers to this platform. On day routes 25-35 and 15-45 the line you have to drive on alternates each turn which adds up to the simulation experience and makes it more realistic. There are also nice, long routes involving driving on motorways and narrow roads of small villages. The night routes are introducing another set of experiences by combining the stops of different routes as well as introducing new stops along the way.

The bus itself is rather easy to handle. With the predefined camera positions you are able to oversee the boarding of the passengers, check for oncoming traffic in intersections and before merging lanes. The on-board computer is easy to use, the announcements are loud and clear. I'm properly amazed by the fact that the destination displays are going to energy saving mode a few minutes after you pull the ignition key out.

There are some minor issues however which I need to list here. I imagine it's for the sake of performance but there are only a few AI cars driving on the streets and they are behaving like idiots on the motorways - stepping on the brakes, merging lanes, etc.

Also, with the settings I'm currently using there are no trams or light-rail vehicles on the map. I don't know whether they are included or not but it would be nice to have those too since there are many stops on the map where your virtual passengers can change to light-rail lines.

If you like driving in big cities as well as in small villages and love the atmosphere of Germany you will love this one.. Great Addon. Love the new bus also! The Roads are very nice to drive on. The Bad thing is the price though, $24:95 for this addon is not a good price, it should be around $15:00. But I think you should still get it!. Really nice map everything is good about this Add-on. first the map it is really mixed you can drive in a city and in countryside and parts of highway. much lines there are even free line pack available on the official forum of OMSI. Bus is really good like the design. Performance are one of the best thing about the map even in the city centre.

Overall: 8,5\/10. It is a good looking DLC with a good fictional map and a good working bus. Only thing i found that there are some invisible walls on the highway from oberfeld and on route from Eichestedt, but that can hopefully be fixed soon.. If you like driving in big cities as well as in small villages and love the atmosphere of Germany you will love this one.. Everything but the bus. OM936 which I hate.. This is truly THE best of the best. I thought Berlin X10 was great (and it is). And although popular opinion for Gladbeck is not too high, I like that also. But WOW - This DLC is practically flawless. A little glitch here and there but they are very few and far between. The graphics - Superb!!! The Bus - Very very nice. The routes - GREAT! I have nothing to say negative - my only question is why did I wait so long to get it! Wanting to buy more right DLC now - but Acchen didn't get very good reviews, and Malorca's reviews were horrendous. I like the Viennas, but to me it doesn't seem like you get enought fo rthe money. To close, BUY THIS - Buy it NOW. If you like OMSI, you will be glad you did.
