The Background

One night, in mid 2016, I (James Biddulph, Developer) couldn't sleep, so I got up and made a little garden simulator. I was stressed out, and living in the city, but nature and open, green spaces, always helps to calm me down. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I made the game generate a random plant based upon a random word. It was super rough, and didn't look great, but I was just making it to take my mind off things.

I showed this little game to a few people, and it seemed to connect with them. I noticed that people would always do very similar things the first time that they played. They would type in their own name, their pets name, loved ones etc, to see what kind of plant would grow. It was amazing to see them connect the plant to the person. Maybe the plant was very chaotic and messy, which made them think of their cat, or tall and graceful like their partner.

I saw this happen with enough different people to convince me that I should turn this idea into a full game. I hope that it connects with more people, and maybe even helps you if you are having a hard time, like the original prototype did with me. 7aa9394dea

This is a great game, and it's very relaxing, especially to someone like me that suffers from generalized anxiety disorder. Sometimes, it's good to appreciate a game that you don't have time-limits, enemies, etc. and just have a fun time trying out new plants and fulfilling requests.

There are a few bugs within the game, thankfully nothing game-breaking, and the majority of these will most likely be fixed with patches in time.. I'm definitely having fun discovering the different plants. The art style is simple and cute and I enjoy the overall atmosphere. The only downside is when my mouse disappears from the screen- even after I his esc to do the quick fix there are still issues. Specifically I mean that I am no longer able to select my seeds even after this quick fix. I would also love if there was a seperate slider for music volume vs ambient sounds.. I really love this game, and maybe when the dust settles the developer might add a way to change the color of a plant after it grows, decorate the pots with lights or add more places to put plants or keep plants that you really like. It\u2019s amazing what one developer made. I love how relaxing it is. No currency, no time limits, just smooth progress. Sometimes you just need this type of game. My only complaint is that there aren\u2019t enough variety in the succulent plants. I have a huge stockpile of small to medium green succulent plants. My hope is that eventually every word will be super unique. I know it will take time, but maybe one day. I recommend this game if you want to relax and type in silly words that turn into fast growing plants.. This game is so much fun and super addicting. It is relaxing and cute and I just love it. Time just flies by as you play. If you love plants, definitely get this game.. Really nice game. Relaxing soundtrack, and it's a lot of fun seeing what will grow from your chosen words. The plant requests by people are great as well, really satisfying to complete player requests.
