This game is a puzzle in every aspect: gameplay, menus, story. At first I finish 3 archives before I realize that there is text behind them. Great time, if you like greedy atmosphere and unique puzzles.. This game is worth its price, I can already tell. Do you love puzzles? Do you love mystery? Just buy it already. I don't think it's like Sudoku as the description says, but it's definitely Minesweeper-like. There are tons of text but it keeps interesting.. Too many puzzles for such small pieces of the story. Boring.. i am so confused. It's really bad. I mean. really. You just keep clicking random buttons in repetitive, sudoku-like mini games. Of course the solutions are not actually random, but the easiest way to solve them is by just starting somewhere and then see where it takes you - or just restart if necessary. You're "rewarded" with countless bits of chat logs, consisting of terrible dialogue (or more like monologue) in terrible English, which must have been written by terribly horny teenagers in summer camp. Horny russian teenagers I guess. Maybe it's just some random tinder chat logs from the devs, who knows? That's it, at least for the first couple of hours. There is no story, there is no goal and, most importantly, there is no fun.. Didn't get this for the puzzles alone, and unfortunately the story really isn't my thing. Mature & Sexual Content in a game about file decryption - I should have figured. The aesthetic is cool though.. I liked the visuals and puzzles, that's about it. The puzzles got repetitive and the story was pretty boring. While reading interpretations helped get a better grasp of what was going on, it did not help make me less disappointed. The ending is too abrupt. Also, the dialogue feels unnatural and dampens the immersion. I understand that the devs' mother tongue is not english but to put this bluntly, they messed up the translations. All things considered, this game is worth trying if you are into puzzles like sudoku but don't expect anything else.. Sorry, James came out at the perfect time for me. I had just finished Doki Doki Literature Club and was in the mood for more psychological horror, breaking-the-fourth-wall type of games. This one definitely fits the bill, tasking you (a tech worker at weapons giant Mantis) with covertly decrypting a collection of files and responding to IM messages from your boss and colleague. It also interacts with the real world in some surprising ways, adding to the feeling that you are searching for clues anywhere you can find them. The primary game at the center of Sorry, James is a fairly simple number-based logic puzzle. Each base panel must be connected to the given number of same-colored squares, and your task is to figure out how to lay those squares out so that each base panel gets its requisite number of connections. There are a few modifiers added throughout the game to make it more challenging, but once you get a handle on what the modifier does, none of the puzzles require more than a few minutes of clicking around to figure out. The real story lives in the files you solve puzzles to decrypt they contain bits of a text conversation between a woman named Elisa and someone else (their parts are corrupted or still encrypted). The conversation bits are not unlocked in chronological order and details are sparse so its a bit difficult to tell what is going on, but it becomes clear that the two people begin chatting by accident and develop a relationship over time. The mystery second person talks about a woman he used to know, who turns out to be an AI he worked to create. I have a wholly undeveloped fan theory that at least one of the two people in the chat is also an AI, but like I mentioned earlier, details that would confirm this theory are sparse in the game. It took me a few hours to finish Sorry, James and I did spend a couple more hours trying to figure out one last (optional) mystery. It is not a long game but is very inexpensive, and satisfying even to just solve the logic puzzles without worrying about the larger story.. The puzzles were good - The visual style was good (had to turn the VFX off for some puzzles though) - 4th wall breaking was OK My main gripe was that upon understanding the twist quite early on, I was waiting for all of the pieces of the story to come together into something more coherent and for it to lead somewhere or into some greater twist in narrative. I did get the 'Full Access' achievement.
