Well presented interactive story that is over very quickly. It takes 2 or 3 attempts to work out how to "talk" to the personalities and get the "right" ending, but after that first 30 mins you are only really "working the system" to get all the available endings and achievements. The negative review is slightly harsh because of the originality, but If there was more content, or more stories it'll be worth it, but it's slightly overpriced as it is.. Who Am I: The Tale of Dorothy is a surprisingly touching take on the sensitive topic of mental disorder. As Dorothy's personal "dream counselor", your task is to talk with her and her different dissociative personalities in reaction to each successive day's events, the succession of which is partly random (and partly determined by previous interactions). The impact of your choices can be measured through several "meters" which are recapped at the end of each counseling session: Dorothy's personal stress (which needs to be kept in check) and the respective levels of integration of each one of the "kids" in her head (which you need to try to increase without Dortohy's stess skyrocketing). While there certainly is a bit more to this simple counseling game than just reassuring Dorothy and her kids, I felt the most engaging part was the narrative itself and the way its different facets unfold based on your actions. There is a number of potential outcomes, both positive and negative, and each one will shed some light on different aspects of the young girl's personality and the trauma behind her troubled story. With the inevitable trial/error phase of getting acquainted with Dorothy and the gang inside her head, you'll need several playthroughs to get to the bottom of it all, but they're short enough that you likely won't mind it at all. If any of this piqued even just a tiny bit of your curiosity, I highly recommand giving The Tale of Dorothy a go, especially for the price. Surely there's a number of more ambitious, better polished visual novels out there, but few will touch you like this one.. This was a nice surprise. It's small indie story driven game with simple mechanics but a deep and touching plot that present some rather mature themes. I got this game on sale and wasn't really expecting much but it turned out to be very well written. From the gameplay perspective, there isn't really much to it but it works fine: you act like a therapist for a girl with dissociative disorder and her three other personalities (representing anger, vanity and immaturity). On each session, you are given some background of what has happened lately and you chat with the girls accordingly. Since there are different lines of dialogues to chose from, there is much replay value (it took me less than 4 h to get all endings), and, since the story of why the other personalities came into existence is pretty interesting (it deals with depression, anger, psychological abuse, delusion, etc., but the story is better off left unspoiled) I would really recommend it.. Purchased this game for my girlfriend and was completely disappointed. Therapy for a game? Not the adventure we were looking for.. I enjoy this game a lot. It really challenges you to think about your choices as you talk to the different girls. You might think a choice is good only to find out it's the wrong one. But not in a way that's frustrating. It's in a way you can understand after you realize it was the wrong choice. I like the art and I like the UI. The only thing that's a con for me is that the music doesn't loop well and it's a little annoying. But it's the only flaw in an otherwise very interesting game. I hope this developer releases another game.. Who am I was a really touching and unique text adventure. It makes good use of fairy tales to express Dorothy's trauma. I don't know if it is an accurate portrayal of dissociative identity disorder or not but it was a fascinating approach to the subject. It is challenging without being frustrating to balance Dorothy's feelings and those of her three other personalities in order to get the ending you want. The truth of her past is revealed little by little throughout each story path so it really is worth it to do all of them. A short, sometimes sad but also beautiful little game.. Needs a horror tag, their crazy faces scared me so bad I had to cover up half the screen. It may seem odd to have this amount of time in a game I am not recommending, but it's because it's nigh impossible. 5 out of the 6 endings are bad and you constantly get locked into death spirals. Having to note every response to make it to the good ending was more than a little tedious and frustrating. I can't speak to whether it's possible to improve DID by counseling in this manner, but achieving the good endings was WAY too hard.. This is a game qbout a 14 year old girl named Dorothy who had a very troubling childhood and has DID. The main objective is to help Dorothy and talk to her other personalities in her mind so she can can adapt better in life. This is a rather short game (3-5 hours once you have an idea how to beat it), which is ok since the price is also short. Despite being short though I found it to be a rather sweet game, The concept of wanting to help a teenager try to live her life. I also liked the mechanics of this game, including the fact that how you respond to Dorothy and her other pesonalities can affect what ending you will get (and there are a total of 6). Overall, a short, nice game. I'd recomend it.
