This review was written in English and Russian in purpose to save your money and time Vacant is a short adventure game based on the same name network graphic novel by Heather Nannelli who is also the developer of this game. Heather Nannelli is a good artist and illustrator but a newbie in video game developing. 1. Story. The game takes place either in an alternative universe or in the far future where people live in a same city with representatives of another anthropoid species. The heroine is an intern in the government agency Eye and on her first day she gets put on a case about three missing citizens. The game background could be interesting if Heather brought in more information from her graphic novel. Unfortunately the story itself, which started so promisingly, ended in nothing. Neither the characters themselves nor their motivation are disclosed (especially as regards the strange alien). You know stock characters without real emotions. Due to its length (less than 1 hour) and ludicrous plot Heather Nannelliu2019s game looks like a demo version not a polished game. 2. Gameplay. You need only to walk, talk and look at active objects. You wonu2019t exercise your mind solving puzzles or finding secrets and items because the game is a walking simulator itself. There are serious problems with navigation in the game: the heroine moves at a very slow pace and periodically gets stuck. 3. Dialogues. When you are talking / viewing items you can choose a reply / action option but your choice does not affect anything. Besides there are some typos and misspelling in the text. 4. Graphics. Characteru2019s portraits appearing during conversations are of good quality and painted in interesting style. I decided to buy the game because of this portraits and the Steam tag "adventure game". To my disappointment in the game itself, the 3-D modelsu2019 quality is clearly below portraits. The game cannot be played in full screen mode and the developer canu2019t solve the issue. 5. Sounds and music. Sounds in the game are standard-free and the music by Elena Williams is not audible in the game. You can hear Holly Standbrook as a narrator in the trailer. Unfortunately you canu2019t hear her versatile voice in the game. 6. Verdict. A game lasting less than one hour with stock characters and a boring story is not worth to buy it. So I finished this game in half an hour. I don't why or how I did that. The plot was threadbare - things happen inexplicably, and then end with the same lack of reason or logic. To call this a walking simulator is an insult to games like Firewatch and Gone Home, where walking around allows the narrative to unfold. With no narrative or gameplay of which to speak of, I spent half an hour being mostly bored, slightly confused.. fun game can really get into it. but only one problem can't go in full screen i was checking files on a computer on the game and the turn off computer button was outside the game and it wouldnt let me pass it ugh anyways other then that i enjoy the game.. If you're into point-and-click adventures then Vacant may be up your alley. It doesn't really offer anything groundbreaking or amazing, but it's fun for what it is and comes at a relatively cheap price. The story is probably the biggest draw and, if you're anything like me, will get pulled in and want to know what happens next. I'm also a sucker for murder mystery type stuff. I will say there are a number of issues I do have with the game. It's sluggish - your character moves at a snails pace and I really wish something like double-clicking would make her run to her location. The act of moving itself is sometimes a chore as the pathing is awkward at times, requiring you to go much further around something than you should need to. There are some spelling errors along the way, too, but nothing too terrible. These are all relatively minor issues that hopefully the developer will tighten up in any possible updates. Again, I don't expect Vacant to really blow anyone away, but it's definitely good enough and I don't really have any issues with recommending it to people.
