Casey Newton is a genius who dreams of one day going up into space. She's sure she'll get her chance because her father works at the NASA launch center at Cape Canaveral. But when the place is being closed down, Casey sneaks in and tries to stop them from doing that by sabotaging the equipment. She is caught and thrown in jail, when she's released and her personal effects are given to her, among them is a pin which she says is not hers. When she touches it, she finds in a futuristic city. When the pin runs out of energy, she wants to go back so she finds online someone who might know something about it. She goes there and when she talks to the people there, they ask her who gave it to her. When she says she doesn't know, they don't believe her and refuse to let her leave. Eventually they reveal themselves to be armed with advanced weapons. They try to shoot her but someone saves her and she discovers the ones who attacked her are robots. The one who saved her introduces herself as Athena. She says that Casey needs to help save the future. She takes Casey to meet a man named Frank Walker. When she sees him, he refuses to help. But when they are attacked by more robots, they try to go to the place she saw.
In order to save our world from danger, a curious teenage girl with a high interest in science, and a former genius inventor embark on an adventure packed journey filled with evil machines, robots and, a technology paradise known as, "Tomorrowland"!
I LOVED Tomorrowland! The only explanation for all of the bad reviews is maybe exactly what this movie is trying to point out, that negativity feeds on itself and just snowballs.... Was the movie perfect? No, but I have yet to see a "perfect" movie.

The premise of the movie was very clear, we once looked with hope and anticipation to the future, and we were building it! Then for whatever reason people began losing hope and stopped caring, stopped building. It all became a self-fulfilling prophecy....but maybe it's not too late, maybe if we can find people who have a that spark still in them, maybe we can "fix it". That's the message of Tomorrowland. No, it's not an "elitist" message as some have suggested, it's not a left or right message either, it's a message of freedom. Free people, free to imagine, free to dream, free to create and build something for the benefit of ALL. "Man has dream, and that's the start, he follows his dream, with mind and heart, and when it becomes a reality, IT'S A DREAM COME TRUE FOR YOU AND ME!".

The 1964 Worlds Fair segment was an incredible recreation! I sat there wondering "how did they do that? I felt like I was going back in time! Of course the segments in the Tomorrowland City were absolutely stunning! How could you not be inspired? It's everything and more than I imagined for an awesome futuristic metropolis! Who wouldn't want to live there? Bravo! (I would have liked to spend more time there in the film however...).

Excellent performances from ALL of the actors, but special hats off to the young actors Brit Robertson and Raffey Cassidy who nailed their performances! Thank You Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof for bringing this film and it's inspiring message to the silver screen! Phooey on the bad reviews! Us dreamers need to stick together! In a sea of terrible reviews, I think what most people are forgetting is that this is a Disney film. It isn't meant to be the next big sci-fi movie, it isn't meant to be completely scientifically accurate and it IS meant to put a smile on your face.

Go into the cinema open to the feeling of wonder you get the first time you enter Discoveryland at any Disney park and you will enjoy it. Keep your mind open, it can be a little ridiculous and unrealistic but isn't that all part of the magic? Tomorrowland wasn't the best film I've ever seen but it made me smile and made me forget the outside world for a couple of hours and in reality, that is what most of us go to the cinema for in the first place.

Britt Robertson looks like a star in the making and I imagine we will see her leading the big screen in the next few years. Clooney looked like he was having fun and again that added to the enjoyment. The young actors in this film also looked like they were really immersed in the world of Tomorrowland.

In classic Disney style, they opted for an English villain casting Hugh Laurie as the big bad. He seems to naturally fall into this role and explains the premise of the film towards the end. Mankind has become so at ease with the fact they are destroying the world that they've lost all hope of fixing it. This is where Casey (Robertson) and Frank (Clooney) are the exceptions.

In short, don't watch this film before you see some of the bigger films at the box office but if you have a few hours spare and want to forget the world around you, open your mind and enjoy what you see. Personally I wouldn't recommend taking younger children due to some person on robot violence but 10+ could probably cope with it. Tomorrowland may be well-made, but whether you're talking about it thematically or dramatically, this is a profoundly mixed bag.
