I had grown weary of indie puzzle platformer games, and only tried Tick Tock Isle because was on sale. I was surprised to find that it was actually quite enjoyable. Tick Tock Isle has interesting characters and a very charming aesthetic. It has so many hidden references to pop culture and literature, I remained interested in the setting throughout. Unlike many games like in the same sort of genre, TTI doesn't try to draw itself out with bad controls, repetition, a slow moving main character or non-interactive cutscenes. It just delivers a series of interesting events and challenges, held together by a story that wraps up before anything gets boring. It's the perfect game for a Sunday afternoon - cheap, fun, not at all frustrating, and a good length.. Unequivocally recommended. An extremely well-polished little adventure game that understands that charm doesn't just come from graphics. Funny, smart and quick paced with a map small enough that the puzzles wouldn't be frustrating even if they weren't mostly pretty sensible. I've seen so many games do time travel wrong, in this genre in particular, and often while aiming for this exact same concept (change time to get past mundane obstacles, and fix a pivotal present to turn a grim future into a happy tomorrow), and it is so so refreshing to see somebody do it right for once. Do keep in mind that as the trailer says, it is quite short, roughly two hours of diversion.. Short and sweet time travel puzzle game with charm.. It's a bit boring to explore again and again the same (small) environment to check if your actions have changed something.. A delightful casual adventure game, emphasis on the casual as it doesn't take much thought or effort to work out what to do next, or how to solve any of the problems, which honestly is sort of a pro if you're tired of the usual puzzle/adventure where you just end up using every item you have until something works and you can finally move on with the story. Great humor,feel-good story, wonderful soundtrack and, I feel, just the right length for something of it's kind. Definitely recommend if you have an hour or so to kill.. This is a really fun, cute, and humourous little adventure/puzzle game dealing with time travel and is chock full of references to other famous time travelers throughout exploring the clock tower. It's a short game, but I wouldn't consider that to be a bad thing since it's very well put together. The pixel art is gorgeous, and the music is excellent giving this little adorable island the perfect atmosphere. It is not at all a frustrating game either, just pure relaxing fun! I really hope they release the soundtrack as either a stand-alone album somewhere or here on Steam as a bundle or a separate 'DLC' so-to-speak.. REAL FAKE DOORS So many references to movies, series, books and other schmeckles if you can find them. - Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure - Back to the Future - Cloud Atlas - Hot tub time machine - Ground Hog Day - X-files - Terminator - Rick & Morty (All the doors - Few others I can't remember The game is a very simple RPG where as you spend your time going up/down stairs and through many doors. The tasks are very simple, the game is very basic. Up/Down/Left/Right The only challenge if that is what you want to call it is the arcade part, trying to use the arrow keys for basic moving brings back the day of the 1980's not the 2009/10 era but oh well. It was a quick game for a fleeting bit of fun for a cheap price of $1.50 (ergo $ vs gameplay) = 7/10 Kind of like last weeks gobby. Shame can't change controls or screenshot, but oh well for $1.50 it gave its best for a few moments xD One thing I notice i didn't do, but the game still completed was hand in the Maple Syrup. I guess there was something the old folks might of done. like take out their dentes and. nope won't go there.. I got this game during a Humble Bundle sale, and decided to give it a try. Pros -Cute pixel art and music. Very visually pleasing, and each character has a little leitmotif. -Cheap Cons -Confusing and Labyrinthian level with lots of useless rooms -Vague objectives, expect backtracking -Important items don't really stand out from the background -Very basic platforming segments -Shallow story with surprisingly low amount of dialogues or choices -Bland humor Overall it's not worth the small amount of time or money unless you really like games in this sort of genre.
