You are James Garner, a security engineer at Mantis Corp., a leading tech company in weaponry field. You got a usual task to decrypt company files. Unusual is that these files contain bizarre chat. Things become weirder when you realize that your job is to “hack love story.”

Sorry, James is non-linear story-driven puzzle game which takes unusual step on storytelling. You will discover plot through dialogues of two strangers and learn a tale about James, whose role is to decrypt files containing that chat. Along with creepy thriller and conspiracy atmosphere, there is the unique game mechanic that reminds mix of Sudoku and Minesweeper-like gameplay.

Great game.

The atmosphere is very interesting and keeps you wondering why you're solving all these puzzles in terms of the story. The puzzles are a lot of fun to solve with simple mechanics that builds on itself to become more layered/complex but never frustrating (similar feel to puzzles I've played in games like Lyne). Usually I can't play puzzle games like Lyne for more than an hour at a time before getting a bit bored - but the ones in this game kept my attention the entire time, partly due to the story providing context for solving the puzzles. The graphics and sound were solid, and had no technical issues of any kind with everything just working as expected. I've played for at least three hours so far and still looks like a lot more puzzles to solve.

Definitely worth the price so give it a shot.. I don't know how I never paid attention to this game's store page before; I think I bought it off some recommendation or something. Frankly, if I had seen that abortion of a translation, I wouldn't have bothered. The in-game text is just as bad, and there's no way to take a game that is essentially nothing but text seriously with all this engrish everywhere.

What passes for gameplay here is some sort of dumbed down "Minesweeper for Windows 3.11" (if you can imagine that) that gets stale 5 minutes in, and then goes on forever.

From what little I have seen of the subject matter, it gets really vulgar really fast, so if your idea of fun is reading auto-translated erotica from some Russian porn site, then I cannot recommend this game enough!. Too many puzzles for such small pieces of the story. Boring.. This game really affected me emotionally. I felt like I was reading a real person's messages. And that person was my ex! Honestly, the way she spoke, or should I say wrote, is very similar to the way she would write with me (not a native English speaker). Even the stories were incredibly similar right down to her ultimate fantasy. Even the way the girl in the art looks is very similar, which is actually one of the things that drew me to the game.
I know it's most likely a coincidence, but just being brushed with those emotions again was tremendously affecting. I found myself deeply involved in the game as such, pushing my way through each puzzle as quickly as I could.
I found the puzzles rather annoying at times, but ultimately rather satisfying. Sometimes I could breeze through them, and sometimes I got stumped and was forced to think things through a little more carefully. I would describe the puzzle game as a bit like minesweeper.
In terms of value, I would say I got mine. I purchased the game for 35 baht (1USD) and sold the trading cards to get back about 10 baht which brought the price down to 25 baht total. That's cheaper than a large bag of Lays chips here in Thailand.
I do wish I could read Tom's messages too. I think it's only fair.. Despite its thriller-ish wrap-up, Sorry, James is a puzzle game with little to no story. However, the game mechanics are both original and intuitive, and you will enjoy wrecking your brain trying to get a perfect decryption for every file. If you have a soft spot for challenging puzzles, give it a try.. This game is a puzzle in every aspect: gameplay, menus, story. At first I finish 3 archives before I realize that there is text behind them. Great time, if you like greedy atmosphere and unique puzzles.. Simply amazing, excellent writting and desing.
From begging to end this game made me think to solve it's challenges and it would never hold your hand.
I played this game probably way more than what I should have but is just to good.
If you want a short puzzle game with a facinating story, give this game a chance.
