About This Game

Three men, friends since childhood, perform important roles in their communities: professor, mayor, banker… But when a meteor falls not too far from the city, Professor Gustav learns that the meteorite is emanating some sort of unknown energy, and begins a series of experiments without the mayor’s permission. Financed by the banker, the professor builds an evil machine that causes the meteor’s energy to spin out of control, destroying the city and mutating its plants and animals. Citizens are evacuated, but rescuers fail to find and evacuate two children. In Questerium: Sinister Trinity HD, you play the investigator hired to work the case, and it’s up to you to destroy the evil machine, rescue the abandoned children, save the city and arrest the professor!

I thought Questerium would be a fairly standard Hidden Object/Puzzle game from Eastern Europe. That meant there would be some translation/dialogue problems, a story that would require magic mushrooms to comprehend, and a fair amount of random clicking to find the single, off-center pixel required to make two objects interact. What I did not expect was that the game would be an intentional?/unintentional? journey into full-motion-video game camp.

It all started when that guy on the cover art, the guy with electricity coming out of his eyes, used his awesome god-like powers to perform one of the most over-the-top pantomimes ever shot for a video game. Imagine Emperor Palpatine using force lightning to toast a waffle and you will come close to the utter pointlessness of his act.

Later, the bald-headed guy in the video advert leans out of a cartoon window and engages in a moment of villany that is more commonly associated with moustache-twirling, a top hat, and a black cape. Snidely Whiplash should sue this guy for stealing his act.

And there are plenty more moments with these two that left me howling at how "tragically ludicrous" the whole thing was. If it was intentional camp, then bravo! If this was not intentional camp, it only makes it even funnier. I recommend the game based on how much enjoyment I got laughing at the full motion video.. Gret point and click hidden object game, it has lots of great puzzles which actually make you think. The main game was fun but when I got to the bonus chapters I stopped getting achievements and the task and hints got stuck on the prison cell which is the first room in the bonus content...I was able to complete it but it didnt record the achievements in steam and the bonus minigames show as locked still.. Questerium is a hidden object style of game with a bit of a twist. In this one you have live characters. I personally like the mad professor Gustav with his great laugh and small inch to inch walk. Funny!

You have to find objects from one area to another to help you progress within the story, as you would expect in that type of game. What I really like in Questerium is the challenging puzzles you encounter. This will get your brain going, let me tell you. If you have never tried this type of game and like puzzles, there is no better way to be initiated into this genre in my opinion. If you like hidden object games, this is a must to have in your game library.

When you start the game you can choose your level of difficulty from casual (with hints and skip) to professional (without hints and skip). I personally like the normal difficulty in this type of game. I rarely use the skip button but I must admit to using it from time to time in this one. Thank god!

Also, during your journey you will find some money which you can use to buy some items to develop your garden. I really like that. It is not much but it is an addition that makes this game better than others in the genre.

This game runs smoothly and has enjoyable graphics. The story is sound and the price is right. Well structure from start to finish.

FOLLOW THE CPT FROGGY CURATOR PAGE HERE. The terrible FMV just adds to this cheesy game. Occasionally it fails to register a click or has an inconveniently small hotspot, but that aside, it seems to be bug free for me. Puzzles are quite original and the HOG scenes are well themed, with fewer random junk heaps than most games. The story makes very little sense, so a typical HOG in that respect. Anyhoo, I had 6.8 hours of fun and consider this thing a bargain.
