The fights in Mortal Kombat are true to the games and the characters involved, according to one of the movie's producers.

With the release of the official red band trailer last month for the movie, fans received a good look at the ways the movie is similar to the characters and fights seen in the games. Mortal Kombat producer, Todd Garner, recently spoke to ScreenRant about the movie's commitment to its fights and staying true to the games.

"Every single fight in this movie has its own personality, and it's true to not only the game, but it's true to the character," Garner said. "So I can't tell you who's fighting, but there's one of the most brutal fights I've ever seen on film."

Considering the trailer's already shown Sub-Zero freezing Scorpion's own blood to create a dagger that he then stabs Scorpion with, Garner's hype around a fight he calls the "most brutal" is especially exciting. Garner goes on to say that this fight he's referring to is "the most violent, hand-to-hand, insane" fight and that "it's not who you would expect to have a fight."

The producer also talked about Mortal Kombat's variety in fight choreography too, which further speaks to the movie's aim to be true to the games, as he put it.

"There's also a beautiful operatic fight," Garner told ScreenRant. "There's swordsmanship and then you have a moment where you've seen in the trailer where Sub-Zero freezes Scorpion's blood and stabs him with it. So every fight has its own personality."
Fans of Mortal Kombat will get a chance to see how true to the games and the characters' personalities the movie is when it releases in theaters and on HBO Max on April 16.
While waiting for that to release, read this story about how the movie is trying to respect the games' legacy and then read about how it's aiming to push its R-rating to the limit. Check out the second official trailer after that and then read about how the director tried to avoid green screen as much as possible when making the movie.
