Man this is a very nice game, if you're looking for a great alternative to Megaman X then go for MetaGal. Silly Anime antics are in here and a couple late stages are frustratingly difficult but over all this is a really fun game. 8 out of 10, I'd love to see a series of this game.. TL;DR It plays like a hardcore megaman fan who loved the games tried to make their own sequel, keeping what worked and trying new things to fix the issues caused by how old the games are like lives. it is up to debate if the new solutions worked or not. Well Megaman fans rejoice, there are GOOD clones to fill in the gap after all! Is this the meaman remake we all wanted? subjective. Long story short this game changes many things that I personally like, but arent megaman so I can see a fan getting upset about them. the two biggest changes are the weapons systems for the boss weapons, and the lives system. For weapons there is a slowly recharging bar, and hitting secondary fire when its full fires your charge shot. If you have a boss weapon and have it equiped, you still fire your normal shot and your secondary fire shoots off the boss weapon. now you cant use it all the time thanks to a ten second charge, but there is no worry about running out of ammo when you really need it like classic megaman For lives they are rare as normal, but you have unlimited continues. so what is the point of lives? continuing dosnt take a life but there is a 'reborn' option that uses them. if you chose to be reborn, you will instead respawn at the start of the room rather than the start of the level. Perfect for when you die after a long streach by accedently letting go of jump too soon. Oh and you cant use reborn to tank the bosses, as reborn spawns you in the previous room for bosses. where a checkpoint is anyway. few more minor complaints, METAGAL feels a bit heavier than megaman. there is a fat chick joke somewhere. Oh speaking of the gender swap, the story feels like a guy who didnt know how to write for women wrote it. Luckly it is less them obsessing about boys and more GirlPowerTM which I find more bearable. On the plus side, just like classic megaman, the story is there for the beginning and the end. and thats it so it is very easy to ignore. If that all sounds good, then know this game is scratching that megaman itch I have been having for a while. At the time of this review I have seen there are 3 other playable characters to unlock, 8 or so stages to play and probably more unlocked after those. level design is fun, and I occasonaly get surprised by some level design I wasnt expecting. I have been having fun, It is nowhere near the likes of shovel knight, however it is good enough that it could be compared to shovel knight. If the devs see this than please keep this up. I would love to see a sequel in the future(unless there is one I just dont know about) or even some other classic games remade with the same love and care. Classic Castleveina for instance. or maybe Secret of Mana.. This game brings back memories of playing Megaman in my youth. I was using the keyboard at first however I quickly switched to an XBOX One controller and would certainly recommend some sort of gamepad. Beyond that, I've had fun with it.. The mechanics are straight out of the NES Megaman series, but slower paced because of limited bullets that recharge over time. The music and sounds are terrible and unmemorable and the enemies and bosses are unoriginal and easy.. A fairly hard megaman game. I also fell into the water, like a number of reviewers of said, but I didn't fall through the level. Playing does remind me of megaman, and it's nintedo hard. Spikes still instantly kill you (Unless you took damage and are blinking.) I died pretty quickly on the first boss, which was not was I was expecting. I haven't played long, but it is fun - I'm just writing a review this soon to help balance out the two that found a glitch when they started.. For a cheap megaman clone, it isn't a total slice of Enemy placement is a , levels could be better, would I recommend it? If you really like megaman clones.. This game managed to be everything a megaman successor should be and Not waste years or give us a terrible product despite a massive budget.. I didn't like the game nor did I think it was very good. BUT!!! I would say its worth the price.. Unpolished and unbalanced at times. Sound quality is not up to par with the visuals. What I mean with this is that theres very little amount of sounds, and at times it makes the game feel really muted and barren. Stage design can be completely unbalanced at times. You will be on situations where you cant really see beforehand whats you have to do. The weapons from the bosses are not very good for regular use except for one (1 of 4 weapons). However the game will require you to use all of them to get past some areas, so they didnt go to waste completely. Besides that, the music is nice and the boss fights are actually good. The controls are very good, but the movement has a "light" feeling. Also once you beat the game once you can choose from 4 additional characters to play the game again, tough the stages arent fun enough to warrant you will play the game over again. In the end its just an average game, definitely not worth $4 (maybe 1 or 2) considering theres games out there for the same price with more attention to detail and better game design overall.. Gorgeous pixel art and tight controls. Felt compelled to write a review based on the negative reviews on the store, I am baffled. I truely believe all the negativity comes from people finding the game too hard. This game has infinite continues and a unique respawn mechanic taking the place of finite lives. It is not hard. It is no harder than They Bleed Pixels, Rex Rocket or Shovel Knight. Its about as hard as the later MegaMan games, maybe. I cool little gem of a game well worth the asking price that deserves more love.
