That is until Eddie's high-rolling life catches up with him and loan sharks start knocking on his door. To pay off his debts, Eddie and Pauline begin a spree of bank robberies across LA, charming tellers at over 60 banks to hand over the cash. Now the lovers are not only on the run from loan sharks but also have the police hot on their trail.

I found this movie exceptionally refreshing. The adaption of the idea of Eddie Dobson was intriguing and mysterious. At times, subtle, the movie captivated my attention (hard to do) and I couldn't take my focus off of what was entertaining me. As many movies as I watch, many movies have become background noise, this is not one of those movies. A well played cast, Jim Sturgess is charming and his dialogue witty. I developed a connection with both his and Isabel Lucas' characters. If you want fast action, pass. This is a warming plot that heats up as it advances. If you like curiosity and underdogs, although troubled, this is your movie. Don't let the other reviews scare you away, give it a chance.
I enjoyed this movie for a number of reasons. The cast had some of my favorites with Patrica Arquette (True Romance), Chloe Sevigny, Vinessa Shaw & a relative newcomer, Isabel Lucas. Isabel was so gorgeous in her role, I found myself asking the age old question, "Who's that girl?". The male lead was a slime ball with good intentions, and he was based on a true character, a biography of sorts.

A cool aspect of the movie is the countdown from 10 to 1 splashed across the screen between vignettes. It is a single story but this effect builds intensity & suspense. The supporting cast was woman after woman, all beautiful. One tip I will gladly share is to turn the volume up because the male lead is consistently mumbling. It could for a number of reasons (to look cool?), but none justified it.

It was a most entertaining movie to be sure. I rate it 7/10 stars because it was interesting which made it engaging which made it memorable. It was an exciting biopic, allowing the viewer to live vicariously through the characters.

TIMOTHY FORD Died Jun. 4, 2007

Writer Timothy Ford died of undisclosed causes at age 55. Mr. Ford wrote an article entitled "The Yankee Bandit" for Gear Magazine about antique dealer turned bank robber Eddie Dodson. Mr. Dodson holds the record for the most banks robber in one day (6) and most bank robberies by a single individual (72). Mr. Ford's article is the basis for the film "The Electric Slide" which is currently in production. Eddie Dodson died of liver cancer in February 2003. Mr. Ford and Mr. Dodson were friends in LA during the 1970s. Living the fast life, Mr. Dodson's drug addiction got to the point that he began robbing banks to support his habit. Mr. Ford was able to come out of his own addiction and became an expert in the field. Mr. Ford worked ardently to help people in recovery through the 12-Step Program. Missing full movie download
