President Taylor requests a woman's help and brings in a disgraced ex-President who may have leverage with the Russians, while Jack and Renee take their leave of CTU, and Chloe gets a promotion.
As the country reels from the day's devastating events, stalwart President Taylor attempts to resuscitate the peace agreement, the cornerstone of her administration. Much to her dismay, she is forced to solicit the services of disgraced former President Logan. Meanwhile, Jack Bauer makes an unprecedented emotional move that triggers the unthinkable, and back at CTU, Chloe is charged with new responsibilities.
After apologizing to President Taylor for his failure, Jack officially withdraws from involvement with CTU, having reached the end of his mission to protect Omar Hassan. At his apartment, he and Renee finally have the chance to kindle their romance. Jamot comes to Taylor with a plan for salvaging the peace accords: they ask Dalia Hassan to step into her husband's office, which she agrees to do despite Kayla's concerns for her safety. Novakovich is preparing to abandon the treaty, so Ethan calls in support from an unexpected quarter: impeached President and Season 5 archvillain Charles Logan, who is willing to use his contacts in Moscow to keep Russia at the table. Despite her misgivings, Taylor accepts his assistance. Tim Woods demotes Brian Hastings; Chloe is surprised to learn that she will be his interim replacement. Her first crisis occurs when Samir, shot by Jack but expected to survive for interrogation, dies of sudden cardiac arrest in CTU's medical wing. After Cole admits that he cannot account for everyone who was near Samir during his captivity, she orders his body screened for poisons. Her instincts are accurate: a Russian agent, Pavel Tokarev (Joel Bissonnette), reports Samir's assassination to Novakovich, and mentions that he recognized Jack's assistant, "Renee Zadan," from their mutual association with Vladimir Laitanan. To prevent Renee from revealing Russian complicity in the Kamistani plot, Pavel prepares to kill her and Jack, observing their lovemaking with sniper rifle in hand. Renee, on the phone with Chloe, mentions in turn that she might have recognized Pavel when she saw him in his EMT disguise, but Pavel shoots her before she can make a positive identification. Jack exfiltrates her under fire and rushes her to the hospital, but within moments the doctors emerge defeated. Renee receives a silent clock as Jack weeps over her body.

In summary,here the events that happened during that hour:

1.At the urging of President Taylor, Dalia Hassan agrees to take the place of her husband at the peace conference. She tells Kayla Hassan that the man responsible for her father's death, Samir Mehran, is in custody.

2.Pavel Tokarev kills Samir with a lethal injection, then contacts Mikhail Novakovich. He warns Novakovich that Renee Walker may have recognized him at the scene.

3.President Allison Taylor confronts Novakovich about Russia's reticence to continue the peace accords. She turns to former President Charles Logan for assistance, who implies that he can exercise some "leverage" over the Russian delegation.

4.Renee Walker tells Chloe that there may be an insider with the terrorists within CTU. Dana Walsh attempts to shoot her way out of the building, but is caught by Cole Ortiz.

5.At Jack Bauer's apartment, Renee is shot by Tokarev from a cross the street. Jack rushes her to the hospital, then learns from Chloe O'Brian about Renee's suspicions regarding Samir's assassination. Just then, he learns that the doctors were unable to save Renee's life.

Rehashed plot lines continue in Day 8 as Brian Hastings is removed as director of CTU New York which leaves a nervous Chloe O'Brian to take command.Also,we get to see President Taylor and enlists disgraced former President Charles Logan to investigate the Russians' withdrawal from the peace accords - the same way then President Logan asked former President David Palmer's help in the past. Then finally,we see how Renee Walker gets killed the same way former David Palmer was killed.

Overall,the only good thing about this episode is the return of former President Logan - one of the most sinister villains 24 has ever had.
