About This Game

Charlie the Duck is an old school 2D side-scrolling platform game. Run through levels, collect coins, diamonds and other power ups. Jump on top of enemies to defeat them. Dive into the water to find hidden areas!

This is a complete remake of the PC version originally released in 1996 for MS-DOS. The game is nearly identical, but some small changes have been made. This version does not use separate buttons to walk slower or faster, some levels were modified a bit to make everything work well with the constant walking speed. Also, there have been some small changes to make the game a little easier and less frustrating. And now there is also background music!

This was my first game ever that I played on my first Windows 98 PC back when I was 6~8.

After almost 20 years, I was able to pass the first boss.

I AM recommending this.. The first time I played this video game was in the 1990s, when I was four or five years old.

Today, after twenty years, I finally made it past the big fish - only to be killed by a small caterpillar.

You win again, game, but give me another twenty years and I'll get to level 3. Just you wait and see!. Alot of fun with charming graphics and music, if you enjoy platformers this game is a must. With lots of secrects and hidden passages I had alot of fun exploring to earn achievements. I hope others have the opportunity to enjoy this game like I did.. Total throwback to old early-mid 90s computer platformers, this came out 20 years ago and absolutely feels it. I missed this the first time around so it was cool getting a new chance at discovering this. Simple to play and control but quite a bit of fun.

I think if I had one major issues, it's that hitbox collision in this game is REALLY rough. On the first boss, you have to hit him from an absolute certain pixel. If you're even off by a bit, you'll miss and get hit. This part was rather frustrating especially when you're visually hitting him, but it's not working. I eventually got by it, but that moment, plus a few others, dampered things a bit for me.

With that in mind, if you understand where the game comes from and can deal with that flaw, it's worth the look. If the flaw worries you but you're curious I'd wait for a sale.
