I love this game. and i rly enjoy playing it but i cant seem to end it. on syndicate end. i kill max balding. and nothing happens.. installed game arms grew to the size of 10 children per bicep in real life 10/10 gd game #built. Not a bad game this one. It might have gone down in history books as a mediocre game but it's ambition is quite obvious as soon as you start playing it some more. You play the role of a soldier in a all-out war on planet Earth. There is a twist to this though and that is that war has been made into a sport with bets and thus there are components such as making bets against mid to end level-boss opponents - and then trying to win those bets - while doing actual missions that are mostly 'go here, overrun this position or building while escorting engineers and blow up target x'. You need to manage your funds closely as you need money for ammo and repair stations. Go broke and you will have lost the game. There is a lot of things going on in the game and lots to do. Interesting places to visit and interesting people to kill. It's average quality though in many areas is probably why this is not that well known. There is one really weak component too and that is the B.O.S bet-fights as they range from unsatisfying '10 seconds and opponent is dead' to plain dumb fights where the environment itself is a big problem or then the player selected equipment just isn't the 'winner' for this particular fight. Most annoying though by far is the time limit combined with the unbelievable trash talk. for example a sniper enemy that evades you the whole fight and who carries a recharging energy shield so you dump unbelievable amounts of lead on the poor sod and then he is saved by the clock. 'Yeah i knew you were a who can't win me' -type of trash talk follows. In worst cases there is a forced reload if the B.O.S opponent is the final opponent on a map. This is more than an annoyance as this is central mechanic to the game and for me it almost sinks the game. It's ambitious mechanics and fun missions gameplay with customizable loadouts and running around sometimes in mechs is fun and the main reason i still consider this a pretty decent buy if you are interested in this type of gameplay. Beware though of mediocrity in everything.. This game is a tragic mismatch between idea and gameplay. The whole "Bet on Soldier" concept and money for kills idea would have been fun with arcade-style, DOOM type shooting. Unfortunately, they opted for a more realistic style of gun handling and movement.. I only ever played the demo for this, when I was like 13. I thought it was cool at the time but I dont think Steam existed back then, and you had to buy games retail, never could find it Was ok for about an hour of 2005 nostalgia, but the game's pretty baaaaaad Sound design is the most annoying, its not even sound design its more like sound asset ripping. Noises that sound like radio crackling when you walk. all the guns sound the same.. classic game, first time played it more than a decade ago when we still had gaming magazines that included demos on CD's loved the game back then as a kid and i finally got around to playing it as a whole game, it did not disappoint me game is a masterpiece of its time.. I really like the concept and the gameplay kinda feels like Halo 1, but the later BoS aren't fun at all. They flashbang all the time and there is no throwing animation so you also don't see the grenade flying, but still get flashed all the time so I have to fire blind at them ALL THE TIME. Also the hitboxes are terrible especially with the mech, you basicly have to stand right in front of the enemy to hit or your bullets will hit the wall.. Not as good as you remember.
