About This Game

Alchemic Jousts is a 2D action strategy game mixing card game's deck creation and real time gameplay. Command your elementals and support them with a wide variety of Skills. Control the arena and crush your opponent in one-to-one encounters!

As you progress through the single player campaign you'll be able to discover new Skills and abilities by combining your already known ones and expanding your repertory of weapons to draw from.

Main Features

Single and Multiplayer gameplay. Play vs AI and advance through the game's campaign, discovering new Skills and new game modes or challenge a friend with either local or on-line multiplayer.

Strategic combat, where your actions and skill of execution matter as much as your choices before the match starts!

Over 180 skills and upgrades to discover. Combine your known skills to discover new ones and expand your arsenal.

Multiple game modes with different objectives that will make you change the way you play as much as the skills you choose. Those include Combat, Endless, King of the Hill, Attack, Capture...

Random Global Effects, which change the general rules of each match in subtle or radical ways. The varying rules will keep the game play fresh and require you to consider the Skills you use to approach them!

Buggy mess. Tutorial doesn't work so after first round there is no way to continue. You are supposed to select abilities from an empty list... so you cant.. and all the escape buttons on screen are disabled. Anytime I have to ALT - F4 a game, im inclined to give a bad review.

I will return to this if I feel like debugging it, otherwise ill just refund it as I barely was able to play it 15 mins.

Edit: While the problem remains, it does appear to be a rare issue. I also wanted to mention that Lunatic Pixels reached out to me directly and attempted to investigate the issue.. A really fun, challenging experience that treats the player fairly at all times.

I'm terrible but the game does a good job of punishing mistakes in a way that makes you feel like you'll do better next time. You always know exactly what you did wrong and it allows for quick improvement.

Each win unlocks more guesses to allow you to continue (hopefully) upgrading your elementals. Overall, it seems fairly intuitive and gives hints, however, since you don't know the names ofall the spells ahead of time, you, like myself, may resort to simply trying every combination. That's where the game gets rather grindy. Also, though the game starts out easy, the difficulty scales very quickly. By level 10-12, even the easiest setting become a hard-fought battle to win (or maybe I just stink at the gameplay part). In short, if you can get the game for around $5-7, I'd say it's a good play, but I wouldn't pay full price for it because, once you start consistantly losing, there's nothing to do but grind lower levels and hope to get lucky in the lab.
