How to drive dsg in manual mode

Sport mode vs drive vs manual mode (08 r32 dsg) (self.Volkswagen) I leave mine in drive or manual, only time I used sport was a 1/4 mile. Manual is nice because you can choose your gear, and I use Drive since it saves gas in the city. Sport just wastes gas while choosing low gears at odd times.
