The Robotech Expeditionary Force stages their final assault on the Invid to liberate Earth at all costs along with REF pilot Scott Bernard and the Invid princess Ariel's parallel planetside efforts at the alien's stronghold, Reflex Point. Just before the attack, the fleet gets a distress call from Admiral Rick Hunter and their flagship, SDF-3. In the ensuing mission, which only manages to rescue the android Janice Em, the REF discover that they have been betrayed by their own ally, the Haydenites, whose powerful technology they have supplied now is revealed to be designed to devastatingly enable their own plans of conquest even as the Invid withdraw. As Scott and Ariel join the fleet, the disparate pair and Janice must overcome their comrade's deep distrust to find a means to stop their newest foe before it is too late.
It's 2044. The Robotech Expeditionary Force is fitted with new shadow technology provided by a secret alliance with isolationist Haydonites. They are aiming to retake Earth from the conquering Invids. Scott Bernard and his band of resistance on Earth have to take down Reflex Point to pave the way for the REF. Meanwhile Admiral Rick Hunter on the SDF-3 is delayed joining the offense after discovering a problem with the doomsday weapon Neutron-S missiles. All of this pales in comparison to the pending invasion by the Children of the Shadow who abhors any race that uses protoculture.
This follows the 85 episode TV show. The characters are stiff. They had a humanity to them in the TV show but they are 2 dimensional cardboard cutouts in this movie. The animation is a blend of 2D and 3D CGI. The animation is fine for a kids TV show but not much more. The story is overflowing with plot rather than a story with relationships. It may work as a comic book but it lacks heart. This is interesting for fans of the TV show like me but nobody else. I don't care what anyone says, I love this new star. Notice I didn't call it a movie because a movie this is not. This a new start. Ariel, Maia, Marcus, Scott, Janice, Louie, Vince, Jean, everyone was awesome.
I have been a fan of Robotech for so long. I even remember walking around my middle school with a petition for more new episodes and for the entire release of the series on video.
My sisters and I used to get up at 4am in the morning to watch this on reruns. We loved this show.
When a sequel was announced, I was the first to be skeptical. I didn't want to the same thing that happened to the sentinels to happen with this series. (Sentinel's was canceled after 4 episodes were produced.) But I don't care really if this series never gets picked up, this little movie was just so satisfying. I love that it wasn't entirely clear of a lot of the plot points. It leaves it open for more.

A lot of stuff we don't see in this movie: 1) Lisa Hayes 2) Minmei 3) Max, Miriya and Dana 4) Annie, Rand, Lunk, Lancer and Sera 5) Bowie Grant But we do see a lot of other things that are just as interesting: 1) Ariel (I have always loved this character and the direction they take her in was magnificent) 2) Scott Bernard (voiced by the original voice actor) 3) Jean and Vince Grant (Vince also voiced by the original actor) 4) Louie and Janice (now there's a couple I should have foreseen) 5) Maia Sterling (Dana's younger sister, Max and Miriya's other daughter) What makes a Robotech story for me personally are the themes of prejudice, race, and love of all kinds and I am so glad that these themes are dealt with in here. Back are the various love triangles: I was loving how Maia was getting jealous of the robotic Janice who seems to be getting the attention of all the boys on deck. I love Scott and Ariel's relationship and am anxious to see how it grows from here.
All in all, I think it's a perfect little film to watch and if you're a non-fan, it's still a pretty good watch as well. It's proof that every good end is also an awesome beginning.
In 2002, the production company did announce a new Robotech television series set for 2004. By the time 2004 rolled around, plans had changed for the project to become a feature-length movie that would act as a "pilot" for either a future television series or a continuous series of movies. While the original movie was slated to be released in late 2005, the production was pushed back until late 2005/early 2006 for numerous reasons. One reason claimed by Harmony Gold, the production company, was that the movie was expanded from 75 mintues to 88 mintues. Another reason for the delay was so that several voices could be re-dubbed in late 2005, after the initial voicework had been done in the Fall of 2004.
Just as the movie was completed, distribution negotiations with a company had fallen through. Harmony Gold's official stance was that there were clauses they found unfavorable in the contract.
It wasn't until July of 2006 when Harmony Gold signed a deal with anime distirbutor Funimation. Originally announcing a DVD street date of November 21, 2006 with a limited theatrical run preceding it, the DVD date was moved to February 6, 2007. The main explanation given by Harmony Gold is that a February date would allow for retailers to have more shelve space for the DVD. As announced by Harmony Gold, plans are underway for a limited theatrical release. Because no film prints are being made of the movie, it can only be released in theaters with digital projection. No exact dates have been announced yet. The first part of the movie overlaps with the final episodes of the original television series, and continues the story beyond that point. Many of the characters from the original series are integrated into the storyline. There are certain story elements and characters taken from the The Sentinels, however it acts as its own story.
The prequel comic series, 'Prelude to the Shadow Chronicles,' is actually a direct sequel to the '90s Waltrip Comic series, starting with the plot points that the series ended with. John Wick in hindi 720p
