With four games remaining in the season, Juventus do not have anything to play for. The Black and Whites have already won their eighth straight championship. Despite being 18 points ahead of Napoli, Juventus are actually playing the worse they have all season. Since March 17, Juventus were eliminated in the Champions League by Ajax and lost two Serie A games. Over their last seven games, Juventus picked up 13 points. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 21st goal of the season last weekend against Inter Milan and will lead the attack for Juventus with Mario Mandzukic and Paolo Dybala injured.

Torino are unbeaten in their last six games, picking up 12 points. The unbeaten streak has helped Torino move ahead of Lazio and AC Milan and into sixth place and a spot in the Europa League. The Bull are only three points behind Atalanta for the final Champions League spot. If Torino are able to beat their city rivals, they will give themselves a great shot at qualifying for the Champions League for the first time. Torino will rely on Andrea Belotti, who leads the club with 13 goals.

Friday night football in Italy brings us Il Derby della Mole; the Turin Derby as it is known in English. It is a classic intra-city derby match between the middle class and working class club. The globally supported and the locally supported club.

It is also a match not-without controversy too. Most recently, in 2007/08 when riots broke out in the streets before the game, which resulted in 40 arrests.

Then again, in 2012, when Juventus were fined for an offensive banner about the infamous Superga air disaster. Torino were also fined for vandalism to the seats and toilets in the stadium. The police also made numerous arrests for a brawl between supporters before kick-off.

This will be the 167th meeting of these two sides in the history of Italian football. Juventus hold the clear upper hand with 81 wins to Torino’s 40.

While, the season is over for Juventus having already retained the Serie A title, this represents a chance to put a dent in Torino’s ambitions of playing European football next season.

Torino currently sit in the final qualifying spot for the Europa League. However, only +1 goal difference separates them from Milan, in 7th.
