About This Game

Opening your eyes, you see a modern looking bedroom. All is quiet. Vague memories flash in your mind as you stand from the cold wooden floor. A voice bellows from an intercom placed on a wall, which is surrounded by strange shaped markings. The voice tells you your mission; to use your intelligence and escape. This is your trial. Can you unravel the mystery behind your captivity, and most importantly, can you escape this treacherous and sinister ordeal?





The initiate tells the story of Nathan Rockford. Nathan has lost his memory and has awakened in a house full of traps and puzzles. You take on the role of Nathan on an adventure to discover the truth to why your trapped here, who your kidnappers are, and have a chance to join a secret organisation and with it, the knowledge of everything.

Very laggy and buggy. In the cave part, I couldn't crawl through certain spaces unless I went at a particular angle and only after reentering the area. The lag distracted too much from the game and puzzles.. The Initiate is a decent puzzle game with a few rough spots. The more logical puzzles are where I had the most fun with this game, unfortunately there also are a few "find the hidden object" sections and a few ambiguous clues that I found less enjoyable.. This game started well but fell apart at the end. One of the final puzzles is against a time limit using your mouse to hit numbers. You have about 4 seconds to do about 20 mouse clicks in different places. Proved to be impossible when your mouse is a small dot and not easy to even know where it is. Very stupid and pointless puzzle. Good luck if your over 12 and have slower reactions.. It's slow af and it crashes when you try to change the settings. Not Reccomended.. This game was fun and interesting. You are trapped in a house alone with only the voice of your mysterious captor speaking over a loudspeaker. You must solve a number of puzzles to get out of the house.

The puzzles were interesting and challenging. Most of them require backtracking throughout the house to jot down clues or to perform certain actions. I was able to solve almost all of them without help. The puzzles made the gameplay long enough to be worth the price of the game. There was one "puzzle" involving a dresser with the words "gold," "silver," and "bronze" on it that I did not solve because I could not find the keys (and not for lack of trying), but I think I read that this was a bug.

The story was interesting, but there was no payoff at the end...no real conclusion or explanation as to why you were there or who your captor was (other than his name).

There were a few glitches that typically happened after loading a saved game. For example, the objects shaped like triangles, squares, etc. reappeared in the original locations even after solving the puzzle by putting them on the correct bases (and allowed me to pick them up again). The fire puzzle reset and I had to re-enter the code. Also, objects remained in inventory even after not being needed anymore like the lighter.

Overall, a fun game that is worth it.

. Very good Escape the room genre game. The puzzles have just the right amount of difficulty and the solutions make sense. I took my time and got 4.5 hours worth of playtime. Only con is the graphics and textures can be sometimes not very detailed that it leads you to miss some clues like blurry words.. Overall, it is a really fun game and i enjoyed solving the puzzles, get it when it is on sale and you will have a good 2.5 hours of gameplay, at least. Cons for the game are a very annoying crawl mechanic that offers the ability to get stuck on rocks easily, obnoxious hard to see items (I'm looking at you, Lighter) that should have a shimmer added to them, and lastly -- the very end. No spoilers here but at the end you have the option to interact with two objects. I was able to pick up one of them without the game ending, so i thought i could do the same with the other item, but alas it causes the game to immediatly be over. Developers, please add an "Are you sure?" or something as i thought i could grab both and maybe get a different ending and instead i got what i would call the 'bad ending' by mistake.. I'm so disappointed with this game, not because of the game itself but because of the bugs that render the game unplayable. I was really looking forward to playing it and enjoyed what little time I was able to spend searching for clues, but then I realized I had apparently picked up the flashlight from the bag at the beginning and it just never showed up in my inventory. I tried a few fixes and even tried running it on a different platform entirely, but nothing worked. (I'm running Windows 10, FYI.)

Would also be great if there was controller support added--the keyboard gets very tiresome when you have to use it to move around.

We have spent a lot of time locating as many Apple Mac devices as we can find to test the game on, and from our testing, the game appears to runs perfectly fine on Apple OS.

However, due to the graphical capabilities of Apple Mac book Pros, we recommend that you lower the settings to as low as possible to help speed up the loading process.

We are still working on optimisations for the game, but would like to note that a lot of issues reported are due end user machine specification capabilities.

We hope to address some key issues in this update. Please find change list below:

• Fixed an issue where upon loading, the game would hang, and sometimes crash.
  
• A complete overhaul of the lighting system for better performance on all machines.
  
• Fixed a bug relating to the map puzzle where the solution was not correct.
  
• Fixed a rare issue where the game would freeze for 10 seconds randomly.
  
• Increased the length of time before Jay speaks to you over the speakers.

As always, we encourage all persons finding an issue/bug to post it in the community threads, where we can then gather that information to fix :)

Please close and re-open steam to acquire the latest update.
