These are the new voyages of the starship Enterprise. Picking up from where the original 5-year mission left-off, a new cast continues the adventures of this legendary crew: to boldly go where no human has ever gone before & to search for new life forms.
Rotten acting by most of the cast except james cawly (however he looks like elvis). Poor camera angles and camera work looks like it was shot with a cheap camera. The effects were good but stupid. The story well it had none.The direction stunk and was confusing.It really is only a fan boy home movie and should not be in the IMDb.Why would anyone make this level of trash.Well the sets were nice things wiggled like they were made of card board but they looked decent.The guy who played Scotty voice became odd towards the end of the fan show and he sounded like the guy from the lucky charms commercial.It's hard to believe it's in the IMDb considering you have to download it off the net.I give it a 1 out of ten.It is a cow puddle in a creek film.yuk don't wast your,time down loading this stinker.
I came back to Star Trek through this series. Really- after years and years (two decades!) of loathing the whole Star Trek format due to truly terrible TV sequel shows, I saw this advertised online, got a friend to download it, and fell deeply in love.

Of course it gets top marks- the sheer enthusiasm overrides any problems with budget and production. Yes, the acting can at times be, er, curious. Yes, the cgi is horrible. Yes, the sound needs some serious attention. But they listen to the criticism and try to evolve... the differences apparent from first to most recent episode are there for all to see. They're learning their craft as they go along and I am more than happy to stay along for the ride.

The scripts are fun, professional and in keeping with the original series's tone- though I could do without continual fan-friendly appearances of aspects from the past, or worse the "future", of the Star Trek universe. I'd dearly love them to concentrate on telling original stories without resorting to guest appearances and the like. I wish the effects were more in keeping with the original too- but hey, that's all secondary to the immense enjoyment I'm getting from it.

James Cawley's unique interpretation of Kirk- one part Shatner, one part Elvis and one part JFK- seems entirely appropriate for such an iconic character so linked with 60s America- so appropriate that, on diving into a read-through of some old Trek novels, I find myself picturing him, rather than the "original" as I go.

In short, as long as my mate can continue to download them, I'm here for the duration. I wish they had more cash- to afford 'planet sets' and monsters and of course to make more episodes, but I'll take what I can get. Many, many thanks to all involved- for entertaining me no end- and for rekindling a love of the original show.

Still can't stand any of the other TV versions though...

Star Trek: New Voyages' producers/crew feel that Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest should be treated as "classic" characters like Willy Loman from Death of a Salesman, Gandalf from Lord of the Rings or even Hamlet, Othello or Romeo. Many actors have and can play the roles, each offering a different interpretation of said character. Though the character is the same, the interpretation of the actor is what's in question. We feel that the crew of the Enterprise has more to teach us about life and each other than has been explored to date. We also feel the new actors can add to the legend in a believable and contemporary way. Yes, some may have a problem separating Shatner from Kirk - all we ask is that you give it a try and see whether Kirk and the crew still have something to say to you. The cost of the production is being paid out of pocket by the producers/crew. Yes, it is expensive, but we're fortunate to have many talented people donate their time and money for a worthy cause and a once in a lifetime trip around the galaxy! We in no way make money from this show and we all volunteer our time, effort and our own money to bring these shows to the internet. The new show will be the continuing voyages of Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701 as seen in the 1966-69 television series, Star Trek. The series was cancelled after its third season. We are restarting the series as if it were in its fourth year. The idea for creating a new series based on the original Star Trek first originated in 1997 with James Cawley. James worked with original series and Next Generation costume designer, William Ware Theiss. Over the years James has amassed a huge collection of set pieces, props and costumes with one goal in mind: reclaiming the spirit of Trek. New Voyage's ultimate goal is to produce a full year's worth (22 or more) web episodes per year maintaining Gene Roddenberry's philosophy and vision for the original 1960s television show. We believe in challenging peoples thoughts and enticing them to action. We feel that Star Trek is a great vehicle for exploring the human condition. We plan to devote the series to commenting on the current condition of life on Earth in the 21st century. The costumes, sets and props will be those seen in the original series of Star Trek. Some of the props, sets and costumes will be updated to reflect the changes planned for Star Trek Phase II, the aborted series that would have featured the original cast in the late 1970's. All of the sets utilized in the original series are being re-created to some degree including the addition of some new ones. The following sets are complete and standing: Full - 360 Degree Bridge, Turbolift, Transporter Room and Briefing Room. Sickbay, Crews Quarters, Ships corridors, Captain's Office, Rec Room, Gym, Chapel, Admirals office and whatever other needs are Swing Sets constructed as needs arise. The cast will feature Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy, Lieutenant Uhura, Lieutenant Cmdr. Scotty Scott, Lieutenant Cmdr. DeSalle, Nurse Chapel, and Lieutenant Rand. Sulu and Chekov will make their first appearance in episode 3. Additionally, Transporter Chief Kyle marks his return to the Enterprise as well! The original Star Trek characters are so well known that the task of recasting the parts seems impossible. We are not casting people who look or act like the original actors. What we dont want is a parody an actor imitating William Shatner doing Kirk for example. We want actors who will be able to remind us of our old friends, but bring to the characters a new life, a fresh interpretation, not a stale imitation. The cast we are assembling are actors first and a few have only now begun viewing TOS episodes. But what they bring to the table is talent and vitality. They will be believable as these characters and will be as effective as any Trek cast thus far! Since our series takes place BEFORE those species were discovered, you probably wont be seeing them here. But as Mister Spock is known to say, "There are always possibilities". Gene Roddenberry is quoted as saying that had it not been for budgetary constraints, the original series Klingons would have had the ridged foreheads. For us, it's a factor of time and money as well. Therefore, any Klingons we have on the show may or may not have ridges... "it's a factor of time and money..." You will get to see the existing sets and perhaps help build new ones.
