Adorable and hard to put down.. Wonderful little gem of a game.. This is a very short but very enjoyable little game. It takes place in one giant level and the only requirement is that you walk right until you get to the door at the end. However, you can also collect all the coins in each location and find items to unlock a separate door for a different ending. The real stars of the game are the extremely tight, satisfying controls and the charming presentation. The game's spritwork and color pallette appear to be evoking ZX Spectrum games, but they have a lot of personality and give the game a unique feel along with the excellent 8-bit soundtrack. This game is just a joy to play through from beginning to end and I'd gladly recommend it to anyone who likes platformers.. I thought I would leave a Negative review for this game since there aren't any as of yet, and someone might want to see a different opinion. This isn't a bad game, it's just not much of a game. We played through the first 5 or so levels in 20 minutes and encountered no game mechanics other than platform jumping and collecting coins. We saw a total of 2 enemies, both of which were simple move-and-avoid enemies. Other than that, no bosses, no power ups, nothing but jump, avoid spikes, collect coins. I would call this a half developed game.. A cheap, highly recommend-able game of pixel art quality.. Rex: Another Island is a great little platformer! It can get rather challenging if you're going for 100%, but it's never infuriating and checkpoints, shortcuts, and warps are all placed exceptionally well. Though the platforming is simple, it's solid and the soundtrack is excellent. Being able to zoom out the camera is also a handy feature. This game also has a ton of replay value if you care about speedrunning or getting a high score. Path branches are very frequent, making this a challenging game to map out an ideal route for, especially since the route would change dramatically based on which of the three endings you're aiming for. Your score is also variable as collected coins must be cashed in at checkpoints and you get more points for turning in larger quantities of coins. The only minor complaint I have is that Rex sometimes seems to "magnetize" to the top of a certain type of platform. This usually works out in your favor, but it did throw me off a few times.. I enjoyed this game. Very good. Buy unless you are gay.. Wonderful little gem of a game.
