I can only guess what type of game the developer strived to create.
JASEM has very high-speed movement and a boost button makes things even worse - it's basically impossible to perceive anything at such speed. Yet the game features small open platforms and a lot of bridges. Fall from the edge = instant death.
With such hectic gameplay, one can expect a room for a mistake - but there's not. Your tank is destroyed after one or two shots*. Sometimes you can't see what killed you. So the best way to play is to move very slowly and carefully clear rooms off-screen. Otherwise, you are dead and need to play all over again.
*There is a shield that is supposed to protect you. But it is basically useless as it does not protect you from rays, fails to save you from machinegun bullets as they fly very fast giving no time to react, and you can't properly shoot while activating it. The only attack that gets properly deflected is a rocket, but it's quite easy to avoid.
The level layout (and your loadout) may change after respawn - so it makes memorizing things and training muscle memory futile. You may be stuck with a weapon you don't like (and even hamper your run since flamethrower is bugged and doesn't damage explosive barrels).

The only positive moment I noticed: you don't need to fully clear previously cleared rooms - the bridges are already there letting you rush through them to the boss hoping not to be one-shot in process.

JASEM features unique art style and interesting concept, which, in my opinion, got ruined by contrary game design choices.

P.S.: If you think that I should "git gud", consider how many players finished the first boss. 2.8%<\/b> is less than full completion of some challenging roguelikes.. Colorful fast-paced unforgiving action with some pretty good electronic music. Cool stuff, give it a try.. good game!! you have to be carefull this game allows you to use alot of weapons as your enemie is oppressing you from your own land you must escape using more then 6 weapons plus a shield. you will understand why they hate you so much,. damn robots. My experience about this game is only 3 symbols - WTF ?!!? I still can't understand what is going on there. Sure music is gorgeuos. But gameplay has no purpose, there's no even a little story. I could recommend this game only for those who are looking for crazy and non-sense epileptic shooters.

5\/10 from me mostly because of music and smooth controls.. It's pretty damn hard game, but I found it quite enjoyable overall. Not the best twin-stick shooter out there, but definitely not the worst.

Pros:
- visuals are simple but look fine
- soundtrack is amazing
- gameplay is fast-paced

Cons:
- controls don't feel as sharp as they should be
- range of sight seems to be too small. 8 hungry Indie Developers of 10.. Yeeah! It's a really hardcore shooter) I'm died 5 times only in tutorial mission, and twice in main menu... in MAIN MENU!!! Ha ha - that's what I really need after work - few hours for simple hardcore bullet-hell tds. Nice. Simple but nice. Now waiting for full release.. The lack of checkpoints is absurd. I enjoy hard games, and playing a hard game can mean tolerating some annoying controls and poor implementation of certain concepts, but this game takes the cake for that. Levels last far too long without a single checkpoint, and if you die once, that's it-- redo the level. That would be fine if it weren't for the extremely slow pacing, poor level design, and general mediocre way the game is set up. All in all, the game is what it says it is-- just another shooter with electronic music. At least it has honest advertising.
