Through flashbacks, Full English Breakfast follows the violent career of Dave Bishop (Dave Courtney) a small-time London villain who kills his way to the top of Britain's drugs empire. Now happily 'retired' on the Kent coast Dave becomes embroiled in a bloody battle of wits with Al Qaeda terrorists who want to take over his criminal empire. Adding to the old mobster's woes is his younger trophy wife (Lucy Drive) wanting to play away with his new driver (Jamie Bannerman).
Just watched this very special little film, what a breath of fresh air after all the trash the average viewer has to wade through.

Full English Breakfast is what it says on the tin - it's a tough as nails crime thriller with a killer cast and unbelievable production value for something being bandied about as low budget. The film is about a terrifying drug baron and his twisted relationships with his henchmen, his wife, and his loyal to the death brother (a lurking presence that made me feel uneasy throughout the film!)

I know more about Dave Courtney from the papers than from films, so don't know what he's like in previous work, but he's the key ingredient in this fry up. Brutal and stylish at the same time, Courtney is terrific as the psychotic and paranoid Dave Bishop. There's a scene near the beginning - not going to go too much into detail - where he murders some poor sap to classical music... it's almost poetic!!! Hands down one of my all time favourite scenes in movie history now.

Loved the story, loved the twists, loved the characters, and if you'll excuse me I'm off to watch it again! Happened upon this one while doing the grocery shopping in my local Morrisons. Wife pointed it out to me saying 'you like that sort of thing don't you?' Not necessarily, I told her, just because it's got thuggish types on the cover doesn't mean it's going to be any good! Nevertheless, not having much else to do that evening I chucked it into the trolley.

Blimey, what a surprise I was in for.

Starts with the age old tale of the hungry (in more ways than one) outsider, in this case an embittered army veteran, fallen on hard times since his return from duty. A chance discovery leads him first to a decent meal - and then on into a much more rewarding - but increasingly dangerous world of drugs, thugs, and flashy cars. The palatial court of Dave Bishop - his new patron - is a world of power, fear... and death. Large sharks circle this fish tank and our hero's life hangs ever more tenuously in the balance when he falls for Dave's wife Susan, a shallow trophy wife with continental delusions.

I'm not going to give away too much more story - I'll just say there are some smashing twists and turns that'll knock you flying.

Didn't always agree with some of the moral messages coming through - the guy seems to hate the establishment and none of my soldier chums are like that - and thought he was stupid to put himself at risk with the affair when he had his plate full with other things, for that it gets a point off, but otherwise great film, lots of fun, visually beautiful and recommend it to anybody that likes a bit of British, a bit of Gangster and just wants a great film to relax with you've got it right here.

It's the Full English, grab it while it's still hot off the frying pan!!!
