About This Game

Between the Stars is a space action game with RPG growth and real time combat that places you at the helm of an interstellar cruiser. Your mission will be to protect the civilized world from the Children of the Sun, a faction that dominates border planets in the known universe. In order to undertake your mission you must cross the galaxy, face new challenges at each warp jump, and make difficult decisions that affect your ship, crew and the world that surrounds you while upgrading your ship's equipment and fighting in battles to survive.

Fight in intense space battles in real time.
Use special abilities on your ship in the right moment to mark the difference on the battlefield.

Unlock, upgrade, personalize and buy different playable ships and their systems in order to conquer the galaxy.
Create a captain and develop them throughout the adventure. Level them up and acquire different attributes depending on your decisions.
Explore the stellar map and its events generated in a procedural universe.

Visit space stations and planets across different sectors that make up the galaxy.
Hire and upgrade your crew in order to face the dangers of the universe. Ensure their safety and cover your casualties, as well as level them up.

Hundreds of text based events that will pit your capacity as well as your crews against countless dangers.
Craft, salvage, and investigate new weaponry in order to augment your offensive capabilities.
Decisions made in one event could change the evolution of the entire playthrough.

Pros:
-Good Graphics
-Good Voice Acting
-Ok Story
-Good Spacepron
-Cool ship customization
-Bunch of resources to obtain and use for crafting and related activities.

Mediocres;
-You can route power to shield\/power\/engine, but it had little meaning in how combat goes. You're too slow at full engine to be useful. You have a lot of shield regardless. The regen is extremely slow at full shield power, and almost non existent otherwise. So both feel like out of combat micromanagement instead.
-Every fight is a cool massive light show but mindless slugfest of projectiles being spewed all over the place.
-The only option left is to put all power into Weapons. Then hold fire button and mouse over an enemy, release when the heat bar goes too high (2-3 seconds) then release 1 second. Rince and repeat for a few minutes. And everything is dead.
-You have to fly up to every ship loot and hold down mouse button to pick up the spoils. This is generally how you interact with every non event object so far.

Cons:
-RNG Character creation, including your perks. Eg: Less shield, more firing rate, less accuracy, etc
-RNG Character progression, you lose and gain perks at random
-RNG Event choice\/success, you throw a literal "dice roll" animated on the screen to see if your character notice the obvious hints in front of you, rather than giving meaning\/control to the player's reactionary and context choices.
This mean you can start the game and immediately receive a negative xp perk that last for an indefinite period of time.
. It's an alright space game with a little bit of crew management, crafting and a ton of shooting bad guys.

What got me hooked in this game is that for certain game actions you have consequences, that might impact your game in a positive or negative way, depending on how you react to certain situations, sometimes the "positive" solution might not be the best solution.

I haven't finished the main story quest so I can't really tell how good or bad it is, but the beginning missions were alright, quite interesting. Side missions aren't that much different from some random encounters, and speaking of them, I wish there would be a larger variety of random encounters, because after 8 hours of gameplay I've noticed them repeat more and more.

So far it's a lot of fun, however I hope that the devs keep adding more variety in random encounters, missions, ships, gear etc over time, as an early access release, the game felt decent, no major bugs so far.. Finally a space RPG with Capital ships!

Graphics are great, sounds are good and gameplay is excellent! The ship models are absolutely amazing too!

Looking forward to pumping some hours into this.. It's a decent space game, the voice acting is a bit off and doesn't really feel authentic, but they have already improved upon that area and might continue to do so. I haven't experienced any gamebreaking issues so far, go for it if you enjoy space games. If you prefer story over anything else, i don't think it'd be for you tho.. Well I got to the end of the campaign that's thus far completed. I must say it was a really good story up til the point where the game hasn't been completed. The game is a lot of fun, however i will say I would like to see more ship choices and more stuff to buy in the beggining of the game. I found myself with a lot of credits and nothing to buy cuz I had everything I needed. For a game that's only being developed by 2 people this game is REALLY good for an early access game. Can't wait to see this game get more content and expand it's universe!.

P.S. I loved the end of the story Devs. Can't wait to see where the story goes!
