A fix on the Steam Froums finally allows this game to work. It's basically an improved Command and Conquer Generals, with an intricate infantry building garrisoning system, including the ability to breach enemy held buildings WHY THE u2665u2665u2665u2665 HAS NO ONE ELSE DONE THIS AGAIN? It also works on Airstrikes like World In Conflict, except you can have your planes shoot down other planes trying to strike.The game itself is pretty solid, you can't play with naval units with AI though, which sux. Pick it up during a steam sale, it's definitely worth the $5.. cannot make it run. my computer is completely capabable. horrible support. was a childhood game.. This game is buggy, you need to go thru hell to even get it to work. and when you do get it to work it's not even worth it. DO NOT BUY. SERIOUSLY! Shame on you, Atari! In depth about the game. They flash about the addition of naval warfare, but its hardly even there. In Multiplayer there are some specific maps you need to play to get naval units. Textures on units are FUBAR and reused alot, they look good all zoomed out but at closer inspection they are just a sad excuse. Interface looks bad and not very professional at all, alot of clutter in it (like a news ticker nobody cares about). Some mission wont even load, game is full with bugs. Gameplay isen't that great to begin with (and this is the expansion pack). Multiplayer is none existant because people hardly have the energy to get the game running. I can go on and on but i wont. It's not worth it and to be honest this game dosen't deserve to be on steam. That, or it needs a major remake.. If you liked C&C Generals, but: - It doesn't work on your PC anymore - You cba to go and get the disk / can't find it / it's so old it's scratched to s***. - You don't want to buy it electronically on Origin - You don't want to install Origin - You don't want to give Origin your monies - You don't like EA / Origin - EA / Origin Then buy this instead. Very similar, a few years newer, and more realistic.. It is an OK game but don't play the campaign the naval portion is broken since firing the tomahawk missile from the destroyer breaks the audio and will eventually crash the game and also prevent you from, completeing the level. Also sections of the campaign seem almost impossible without using cheats even on easy. Otherwise its an OK game but definitely not an improvement over Direct Action or even nearly as good. Direct Action has a vastly better quality of the campaign. Seems like Eugen was phoning it in on this one.. Act of War is one of the finest Real-Time-Strategy games in gaming history. Its graphics are superb even by modern standards, and the realistic US Army faction makes Act of War what many gamers wished CnC:Generals had been. The game plays very similarly to Generals, but lacks any generals themselves to add flavor to the skirmishes. The units don't have anything witty or neccessarily interesting to say; they instead respond in ways that you'd expect their real-life counterparts to respond. If you're a fan of RTS but want to play in a world which looks and sounds authentic as opposed to the sci-fi or cartoon representation of other RTS games, then AoW is exactly what you're after. Despite its age, it works on modern machines, including Windows 10 and even NVIDIA mobile series graphics cards, which are notorious for their legacy incompatibility. If you're like me and more interested in playing skirmishes than the campaign, then Act of War: Direct Action is uneccesary because Act of War: High Treason is a standalone expansion pack which includes the full game. The only thing that DA has which HT doesn't is the DA campaign. AoW is an amazing game, quite possibly the best RTS yet. It's a steal at three bucks. Buy it, play it, love it.. probbly just my computer but the load times are rediculous, makes it not even worth playing! 30min??? come on.. Act of War: Direct Action was pure RTS quality, playing like a more realistic and deeper version of C&C Generals while also possessing a stellar campaign that was told through live action cutscenes. Sadly, the expansion to Act of War: DA, High Treason, gets rid of the live actors and tells a story that is much less gripping as a result. We no longer see any of the characters up close, only hearing them through voice over narration mid-game or through 3D cutscenes, and combined with it being shorter than DA's campaign, the whole thing just felt uninspired and lazy. All this is unfortunate, since the game does do better overall on the gameplay front compared to its predecessor. Naval battles are enjoyable in its scale and weapon systems you can bring to bear (though the Tomahawk sound bug is annoying and requires a mod to fix), mercanaries are interesting and useful, and the changes to each faction, like the unit additions and fixes (US MLRS is now useful) were mostly positive. The only regression I found was the healing/repairing system, with most passive healing abilities being replaced by an active command ability with cool down. I understand they wanted to streamline it, but it just ended up being less effective and not as interesting. And that's pretty much how I'd describe High Treason compared to Direct Action; less interesting and less effective overall. I'd recommend it but if you already have Direct Action and hoping for more techno thriller storyline action, you'll probably be underwhelmed.. So i sold a CS:GO skin for this game and i want to say it's really good although servers are dead you can still play through Hamachi.
