Meet Samuel, Jeffrey and Michael Douglas! Their grandfather, Mori Tanaka, is highly skilled in ninjutsu. For years he's been training these boys in this technique. He even gave them names: Rocky because he's "solid and cool as granite rock"; Colt, because he's "fast and free, a spirit of a young wild horse"; and Tum Tum because ambition begins and ends with his tummy". But one day, an old "friend" of Grandpa's, Hugo Snyder, is heard from again. He's being hassled by the F.B.I., and the boys' father happens to be an F.B.I. officer. So Snyder figures if he kidnaps the father's kids, it will ease the tension, none of his own men are suitable for the task, so he hires three dim and incredibly incompetent surfers to do the deed. The boys treat them to a night of ninja moves and hilarious gags ala 'Home Alone'. But the boys soon get captured by Snyder, and what is more, they become doubtful of their grandfather, until he bursts into action and fights Snyder.
Three young brothers, who have been trained in ninja techniques from an early age, learn that they possess powers which evil crooks would like to control. When a kidnap is attempted, they must defend themselves using all their skills.
Kidvid made by the kid conscious I would suspect as 3 Ninjas is a kid comedy of sorts about three pre-teen brothers and their grandfather who teaches them the ways of being a ninja. This first film turned into a series of four 3 of which I have seen and not quite like the original 3 Ninjas but none is to be just discarded either if you like the characters and can deal with more. A lot of care is shown in making a good and well made film such as this suitable for kids and adults alike who can stand enjoying it without embarrassment or whom have kids of their own or are uncles, aunts, etc. and can simply share with them. Such a film like this can be the break an adult may not know they need from all the adult fare that is little more than blood and guts and the results of the hard knocks of life. Just don't forget 3 Ninjas is for kids and start missing the physical interactions of adult films and the stronger language and many hours you may find yourself relaxed in sharing with your kids and having them appropriately entertained and perhaps a bit instructed.

Feel good kid fare that might work on unjaded adults as well. And if the above enjoyment happens those who care to may be encouraged to continue the use of their talents to produce, direct, provide more. It is perfectly obvious that John turtletaub is the greatest living American director. People who have yet to acknowledge this are what we call "lacking" "up top".

A bit simple.

Their lives are empty and their houses smell. Three Ninjas is liquid Turtletaub, a seminal movie, perhaps lacking the intense emotional core of "The kid", but then even Turletaub on a slightly off-colour day kicks seven shades of excrement out of most directors whacking off on all cylinders. Watch it or I'll cut your arms off. 3 Ninjas is shoddy, violent and numbingly pointless, an action comedy in which three brothers spend their summer practicing martial arts under their grandfather's tutelage.
