Chris and Bill are called upon for their excellent surveillance record to stakeout a lakeside home where a Mafia trial witness is believed to be heading or already hiding. Unlike their earlier _Stakeout_, this time they are accompanied by Gina Garret from the DA's office and her pet rottweiler 'Archie'; their cover, husband and wife with son Bill.
A witness against the Mafia is being secretly held till the trial when a violent attempt against her is made that kills several of her guards. She disappears and Bill and Chris are sent to another stakeout. This one is arranged by the D.A.'s office and comes with Gina (and her pet Rottweiler) who is to keep an eye on them since the observation post is a vacation resort community in the home of a judge. Bill and Chris are annoyed and are every bit as childish as before.
Just look at the poster. It pretty much sums up what you will get.

Terribly scripted plot. The dialogue sounds like it was written by a class of 5th graders. The jokes are annoyingly scripted and poorly executed. You can tell how hard it is for the stars to act in this because they just don't know what to do with it. Everything about this movie is bland. Everything about the plot is expected and you are never surprised by what it offers next.

This movie embodies everything that makes early 90's action movies boring. A lack of serious plot and lazy execution on every front of film-making. The outline of the film is kind of the same thing as the first one. Gina Garrett (Rosie o'Donnell) is an Assistant D.A that needs to find a woman who has escaped federal protection and needs to be found as she is vital to a case and also before she is killed by the mob. Chris and Bill are assigned to her, to stakeout a couple who are friends with the woman but have gone on holiday and the three have to join them to get any information that will help find the woman.

One of the things that is different in the plot line is there is a inside man who is in the D.A's office but is in with the mob and he is not found out and instead gets killed by the mob's killer at the end. It seems stupid that they would not have looked at this man as the inside man but in the end he gets his comeuppance for helping the mob.

The sequel is not as good as the first but it was still a worthy effort, there are still some funny scenes such as Gina running after her dog who is chasing a cat and when she rescued by a hunky man who Chris embrasses. There is another humorous side to it that they are supposed to be a family and Chris and Gina act like an old married couple. At times, I found Gina to be very annoying but I liked her in the end.

What is also ironic is the guy Chris and Bill played jokes on in the first film is now their captain.

This film is OK but it isn't brilliant as the first film. It is a shame because Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez's chemistry still works well but the script lets them down.
