The powerful tycoon Auric Goldfinger has initiated "Operation Grand Slam," a cataclysmic scheme to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. James Bond, armed with his specially equipped Aston Martin (its accessory package includes built-in machine guns, a smoke screen and an ejector seat), must stop the plan by overcoming several outrageous adversaries. First there's Oddjob, the mute servant who kills at the toss of a lethal hat; next, the beautiful Jill Masterson, who gives new meaning to the phrase "golden girl"; and finally, sexy pilot Pussy Galore, whose romantic feelings for Bond complicate her involvement in Goldfinger's high-flying scheme.
Goldfinger is simply the most iconic of the James Bond films. This was the first to have the gadgets, the first to have 2-3 Bond girls, the first to have the most insane, over-reaching plot andsuch set the ultimate standard for total Bond escapism. It has absolutely everything in it, including some of the most iconic Bond lines, and some fabulous set pieces and multiple world locations. And it has a fabulous title song by Shirley Bassey, instantly recognizable almost anywhere in the world.

The British and American governments suspect jeweler and tycoon Auric Goldfinger of illegally smuggling gold through the borders in Europe, which in turn damages the value of the currencies which are cheated. James Bond is brought in to investigate, but following the death of Bond girl Jill Masterson(surely the most iconic Bond girl death), he takes it a bit more personally and sets about trying to unravel Goldfinger's plot, discovering that Goldfinger might in fact have an even more devious and insane plan involving a 'small nuclear device' and a rather famous Fort in America. Along the way, he meets Jill's sister Tilly (another ill-fated Bond girl, extremely loyal henchman Odd-Job, and of course, Pussy Galore (fabulously acted by Honer Blackman). Natually, this leads to the most iconic battle between Bond and the super-villain, and being a Bond film it can only end one way.

Of all the James Bond films, this has to be the most iconic, even if it's not the best in terms of plot. "No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die!" - An instant classic, that has been parodied so many times over the years, that it's amazing that it still has any power left! Not to mention the wonderfully names "Pussy Galore" (God knows how they got away with that one), Odd-Jobthe definitive henchman, and the Aston Martin DB5, which is now such a classic that it's one of the few cars that appreciates in value, rather than depreciates. And of course, Gert FrobeAuric Goldfinger, the first genuine super-villain with a genuinely insane yet ingenious plan.

Sean Connery absolutely cemented himselfthe definitive Bond in this film, and with this, the role of Bond changed from Detective/spy to more of a super-spy with the class, the wit and the gadgets to confront any situation. You know the situations that Bond is in, simply don't make sense - yet Connery and the film itself handles it all so brilliantly, that somehow insane situations are made to feel very sane and believable. Odd-Job, the least likely henchman, is now the most iconic henchman simply because of that hat! Goldfinger has the most famous line of any Bond villain, and Honer Blackman surely has the best Bond girl name of all. It's such a classic, that nearly every other spy film/franchise since from film, to TV has in some way parodied it. Even Mike Myers ripped this off for Austin Powers. And let's not forget that ejector seat.

Though the Bond franchise has tried very, very hard to match the sheer class of this film and the characters in it, no one has ever really managed it. No one ever will. The plot may not bestrongFrom Russia with Love, but in my opinion, this is the definitive James Bond film, and should never, ever be missed.
This is arguably the best Bond film ever! Goldfinger and Oddjob are great villains! Good acting and the theme song is awesome! Lots of action. Pussy Galore is a great bond girl because she can do it all! This Bond is one of My favorites!
