About This Game

Best played with the lights turned off and the volume turned up, Black Sails is a creepy and mysterious point-and-click adventure game.

A shipwreck. Having lost all hope, two survivors cling to wreckage, trying to survive a few more minutes in the raging sea. Until another ship appears. Hoping for rescue, they are calling out, but nobody answers. They manage to go on board. Will this be their rescue? Or their grave?

Inspired by a true story, the player experiences a journey into the darkest abyss of the human soul until he cannot tell between truth and fiction anymore.

Having been released in Germany a few years ago, gathering much acclaim for its focused story and strong plot, Black Sails is now available with full English localization for the first time ever. We hope you'll enjoy it.

Short and sweet, like sex with a midget hooker.. Game breaking bugs cause this game to crash so much it is unplayable :( I tried so many times to go back but could never get much farter before OH DAMN SON HAHA NEVERMIND YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE WHOLE LAST HOUR AGAIN. An intriguing point & click adventure game by developers of Lords of The Fallen, Venetica and Ankh series. It was first released in 2010 in Germany, but it has never been localised into English until now. Steam version comes with both English texts and dialogues.

Anna and Lex survive a ship catastrophe and end up on a deserted brigantine full of strange equipment and machines. They have to uncover the mystery behind its history and find a way to reach dry land. Gameplaywise it's a traditional point and click game without any arcade elements - forget about QTE's, shooting, timed riddles and other stuff that is currently being introduced into games of this genre. There is, however, one very interesting system implemented - your decisions alter the relationship between Anna and Lex. It may not change the course of the story, but it changes the way they speak to each other, which is a nice addition abd makes the characters more believeable.

Black Sails is advertised as a scary game, but it's not really true - there are some minor jump-scares, but it's nothing as intense as Amnesia, Soma or other horror adventures. It's more of a mystery game with some surprising twists and moments that make you change the theory you had about what's going on. There are also multiple ways your adventure can end. The twist behind the story is interesting and well executed. At one point towards the end I really had goosebumps because of what I learned about the ship and my characters. I'd say that the ending alone is worth the price.

Unfortunately, not everything is as good as the ending. Black Sails can get irritating at times. The font used in letters and notes you find on your way is extremely hard to read and the camera behaves strange from time to time forcing you to take a few steps backwards in order to go forward. It also crashed for me twice. Maybe it's my PC's fault but make sure to save your progress as often as possible anyway.

It's a short and easy game - if you are experienced with adventure games, you'll complete it and watch all ending variants in about 4 hours. This doesn't change the fact that I had a lot of fun with it and finished the game with pleasure. I would recommend it to beginners or players that are more interested in the story than in solving riddles.

There's not a wealth of point-and-click adventure games out there and this one makes an interesting coupling of the genre with horror that actually feels a bit scary with the tense music and unlit spaces. It was completely solvable without a guide, though somewhat tedious at times. I have to admit I didn't like either character at the start, finding the guy really annoying and the woman very typical of this type of game. There were a few jarring parts that really surprised me that I won't spoil here, but at the end was also a little surprise that I should have realized earlier but did not. My biggest complaint is the movement. Sometimes it's nearly impossible to get where you want to go or even to see where you want to go, but once you get the hang of it, you do get fairly used to it. All in all, this is one I would suggest for folks like me who really love the genre 'point & click' and like mysteries, but I would recommend to wait for a sale.. Old skool P&C, pure nostalgia...... It's a very simple game when comparing to other, more complicated ones, but the story is quite capturing. I did get stuck quite a few times, but if you keep trying, you'll get there.
