Hello everyone, Pizza Dave here, delivering you a review of the Aurora Play by vaporesso aurora play. This most obvious feature of the device is the fact it resembles a Zippo lighter. The design comes with some nice perks as well. The flip top keeps dirt and lint from enter the drip tip, and it also is quite pocketable. Beyond this design characteristic, the Aurora also features a 650mah battery, draw activated firing, on/off button, adjustable power output, and utilizes 2ml replaceable pods. Let’s dive down and see how this pod system compares to others on the market and see if the gimmicky design is great, or a bust.
Operation of this device is quite simple. It has an on/off button on the side and pressing this 5 times will turn the device on and off. There are no adjustments for power on this, but there is an LED above the fire button that shows battery levels as seen below:
I love that they have a three-stage battery indication. This way I always had an idea of how much time I had left before I needed to plug it in. I was also able to vape this when the LED was red for a while, so it isn’t one of those devices that goes red, and it’s dead. This LED also lights up as the mod is charging. It is blue during the charge and will turn green when fully charged. I was seeing around an hour or so from dead to charged.
Another option that this device has is selectable power, similar to the Renova Zero. Pressing the button three times will cycled through power settings for the device. If you want to check what setting it is on, hold the button down for a couple of seconds and it will illuminate the color of the setting. The wattage settings are indicated as follows:
The last operation item to talk about would be the filling of the pods. Like the Zero pod system, this features a check-valve style system on the pods which they call Push-to-fill or PTF. Simply press the bottle tip into the plunger and fill. If you are using larger tipped bottles or dropper bottles, they may not work. Thankfully, they included a refill bottle that has a smaller tip that works well on this plunger.
