The story:

You investigate a secluded military lab and find something horribly wrong! All of the scientists are missing and the facility is ransacked. Years of research and top secret classified experiments are no where to be found.

The missing scientists, known as the Omicron Initiative, are responsible for developing new technologies. The only clue to their disappearance is a mysterious text message reading "we were forced to do it". The team's disappearance threatens the secrecy of it's research, which could potentially put your country into a chaotic panic. Now there's only one person who can rescue the Omicron Initiative and protect its secret technology from falling into the wrong hands.

In 21 real time strategy missions you'll race across the world to find out who, or what, is responsible for the team's disappearance. You'll battle with over 130 different types of RTS units ranging from infantry and ships to giant modern mega units.

After honing your skills in the campaign, fire up a random map and experience insane 5,000 unit real time strategy battles! Choose your nation and test your mettle in online multiplayer or conquer some AI opponents offline. Many adjustable options ensure every game is unique. Want to play with only ground units? Make the victory condition the death of a specific unit? The options are limitless in this real time strategy game!

Hello, my name is James, I'm an indie developer and programmed 100% of Machines at War 3 over the last two and a half years! It was quite the undertaking and I almost gave up several times, but through bad times and good, I'm excited this real time strategy game is done! Not enough hotkeys, basicaly played with one hand only which feels very wrong in an rts game.. first of all - most epic music in an RTS game that i have ever heard - it really makes it quite enjoyable to play on this basis alone. The game is classic Total Annihilation style RTS - like the supreme commander games but it is far less system demanding. simpleand easy to play. It's like having Total Annihilation back!. it's the greatest game of all time, cuz it's so♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥easy, but seriusly the AI could be a little more interesting. other than that the game is the gratest game of all strategy games that I have played. First off; I've been playing this game much more than my playtime on Steam (played the standalone version until now).

This RTS lays close to my heart. I've been playing all the iterations (Machines at War and Land Air Sea Warfare), and I've been loving every one of them. It's by far the most pure RTS experience I've been able to get my hands on. It's not to complex to get into, yet has the depth that keeps me interested. Every playthrough can be different - depending on whatever strategy you choose - through a reasonable amount of units (of all types, land, air, sea, sub, mega units) and quite a good variety of research options. The research options can be a generic +25% damage or sight, or a more game changing one that unlocks end-game units.

Although I mostly enjoy the multiplayer and skirmish gamemodes, I find the campaign completly satisfactory. The story in itself is nothing to write home about, but that's not what this game is about. The campaign is not just a quick skirmish with increased difficulty, but rather a new experience that requires you to do different set of missions. They're fun and absolutely worth the value of this game!

But the great fun in this game, for me, is the skirmish. I've been playing with my little brother and we're having a lot of fun. It's fast paced and usually a race to the Black Widows... because they're annoying as hell if you're not prepared for them. ;-)

The units are both unique and some of them "classic", as you'd expect. I love the mega units altough they can be quite hard to acheive on a multiplayer game, but that's all about the strategy. Nukes are the even more fun, and frustrating for your opponent of course. But all the über-units in this game has a opponent unit or defensive building, so this game is not unfair by any measure. I especially love the "wasp" type air units as they're cheap, effective and a nuance for the opponent.

All in all; I really recommend this game. A great, waterproof RTS with a great value.. I good RTS game. The mouse controls are alright and I haven't seen all the features. Seems good so far. On a larger scale than some rts games, but not huge (Unlike SupCom or Planetary annihilation) which means you won't have much trouble managing your troops. Good selection of units that aren't boring. The graphics and animations aren't great, but i don't give a crap about that and considering the large amount of content having low graphics barely makes a difference. Worth the $15 and definetly buy it if it's on sale.. Good old fashioned RTS. Surprisingly a lot of depth, it's a 2D RTS which is fine, you don't notice once you got your head in the game. The easy setting is crazy easy with the exception of one or two missions. Might give the MP a go soon. For the price a nice little indie title. I'll probably have completed this soon, in the absence of any good market leading RTS games this little puppy fills the gap.
